A Guide For Tending to Your Garden Furniture in Ireland

We know that we have been posting a lot about garden furniture as of late, but that is simply because of its importance in your garden and the extensive list that you need to think of when purchasing garden furniture.

We have done articles on choosing garden furniture and the importance of your outdoor furnishings, particularly in Ireland. What we haven’t done yet though, is a little post on caring for your garden furniture in Ireland.

We have explained to you as of late that we stock both rattan garden furniture and aluminium, but we haven’t told you how to keep them in top knick. Here is a little guide as to how:

Rattan Garden Furniture

Rattan furniture is made from the sleek. bendable palm stems. Outdoor rattan furniture is then coated with Polyurethane to keep it waterproof and weather resistant. Rattan furniture is long lasting, but it needs to be cared for properly. It also comes in a vast array of stylish designs, making it a popular choice for the Irish household.

The majority of the time, rattan garden furniture comes with cushions. Firstly, you need to make sure that these are waterproof cushions, as if they are not and you leave them out in the rain things can get messy. Even if they are waterproof, however, you should bring them indoors when they are not in use in order to get the maximum life cycle from the cushions.

The keep the actual rattan garden furniture safe, you should clean it from time to time with warm soapy water. Many people feel like chemicals are the best way to clean, but this is not the case for rattan furniture – do not use them. You should also always make sure to clean your garden furniture before storing it away for winter. Finally, covering your rattan furniture when not in use will also prolong its life.

Aluminium Furniture

Aluminium furniture is very popular due to its strong, resistant nature. The majority of metals used in outdoor garden furniture will eventually rust. This is not the case with aluminium furniture however, making aluminium furniture one of the easiest furniture types to care for. If you do manage to get something on your aluminium patio furniture then simply gently wash it with warm soapy water. Touching up these patches will seal them and ensure the rust does not spread. Like with rattan garden furniture, you should cover your aluminium furniture, as the more outdoor furniture is covered then the longer it will remain in pristine condition.
